Dr. Gerald J. Murphy
Dr. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska and is a 1972 graduate of the University Of Nebraska Medical Center College Of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Craniofacial Pain and the American Academy of Pain Management. In addition he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, the International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Murphy is a founding member, past president and currently serves on the board of directors of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. In addition he serves as director and is a faculty member of the Academy’s Institute Craniofacial Pain Mini Residency program.
He has presented over 200 programs and lectures in 32 states, the District of Columbia and three provinces of Canada. These programs have been presented to international organizations, state dental societies as well as study organizations. Dr. Murphy has had numerous papers and articles published in peer review publications, has contributed chapters to two text books. He has produced several educational CD’s and DVD for health care professionals involved with the diagnosis and treatment of Craniofacial Pain Disorders.
He was one of a select group of twenty three health care professionals from throughout the world asked to speak at a national consensus conference on temporomandibular disorders sponsored by the National Institute of Health in Washington, D.C. in 1996. He was also one of five doctors from the United States asked to provide expert council to the American Dental Association on developing parameters of care for temporomandibular disorders. Additionally he served as a member of a legislative subcommittee, the TMD Critical Protocol Development Group, which developed parameters of care for the state of Nebraska.
Dr. Murphy is senior editor for the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, an associate editor for the Journal of Craniomandibular Practice and a peer review editor for the Journal of the American Dental Association.
He divides his time in active clinical practice between Grand Island, Nebraska as well as the Craniofacial Pain Center of Colorado in Arvada.
Dr. Jamison R. Spencer
Dr. Spencer is a native of Boise Idaho. He is a graduate of Borah High School and attended Brigham Young University for his undergraduate training. Dr. Spencer attended Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry (D.M.D.) degree.
Upon graduating from dental school, Dr. Spencer returned to Boise and began practicing with Dr. Edwin Matthes. Dr. Matthes had limited his practice to the treatment of TMJ disorders some 15 years earlier, and acted as a mentor. Since 1998 Dr. Spencer has been able to accumulate over 1000 hours of continuing education specifically related to craniofacial pain, TMJ disorders and sleep disordered breathing. He has also completed the U.C.L.A. Acupuncture for Physicians training course and is a certified acupuncturist. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (www.aacfp.org) and a current resident of the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Craniofacial Pain post doctoral program. He also serves on the board of directors of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, is a Diplomate of the Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and a credentialed member of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Spencer teaches head and neck anatomy at Boise State University and teaches courses to dentists and physicians nationally and internationally.
Most importantly, Dr. Spencer is married to Jennifer Spencer and is the father of 6 beautiful children. They enjoy many activities as a family, but particularly enjoy snow skiing.
